The Maine Association of Realtors Foundation (MAR) recently made a generous donation to CHiP. MAR members know first hand the need for affordable housing in our community and appreciate the work CHiP does to help people stay in their homes. This helps to reduce the number of new housing options that need to be developed in our area.
MAR Foundation is the charitable arm of the Maine Association of Realtors. MAR members, both Realtors and Affiliates donate the interest on their Trust Accounts to the Foundation. The funds are used to support housing related charities throughout Maine. It is one of the ways MAR members give back to our communities. CHiP’s target population is the struggling families of eastern and central Lincoln County. Neighbors request help when they do not know where else to turn. They have difficulty providing food, medicine, and utilities for their households. If something breaks or the roof leaks, there are no funds left to fix the problem. Many are disabled or elderly and cannot do repairs on their own. Our goal is to keep people in their homes; the results will be safe, warm, and dry houses for people who would not be able to find affordable alternatives.
CHiP has low overhead as we have one part-time employee and rely on the Board of Directors to take an active role in administration, fundraising, communications, public relations, and grant writing. CHIP also relies on volunteers for many of our repair projects.
Please consider joining us and nearly 100 volunteers in September for CHiP’s Community Cares Day 2023. On that day, volunteers gather to help neighbors with urgent repairs, yard work, and other projects. Sign up online at www.chipinc.org/volunteer. If you prefer a printed form, contact us at caresday@chipinc.org or leave a message: 207-677-3450. Sign up early and enjoy this special day getting to know your neighbors and helping folks in need in your community.
