CHIP NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Since 1984, CHIP (Community Housing Improvement Project) has provided emergency home repairs and energy assistance, as well as serviceable appliances, water heaters and furniture to needy families in Lincoln County, at no cost. Most recipients of CHIP's services are elderly, disabled, or single parents with kids, often unable to afford both food and fuel, and without assistance would be forced to choose one or the other.
The exceptionally cold weather this last winter has taken a huge toll on our resources. Between November 2010 and the end of April this year, CHIP helped 233 individuals and families at a cost of $77,100, $26,600 more than the same period a year ago.
In order to meet the anticipated costs of materials for summer projects done by the young people from Basking Ridge, NJ in July ($3,000) and our own Community Cares Day in September ($13,000), we must raise at least $16,000 in the next three months. Parishioners at the 11 area churches represented on CHIP's Board have been most generous in the past, and we once again ask you to open your hearts and contribute as much as you can, so CHIP can continue to fulfill its mission to ensure every home in the county is safe, warm and dry.
